Yeah you're so right. Sometimes top writers use their reputation to make an impact in their titles - and it's a turn off to read a title like that if a writer hasn't built that that reputation yet.

What I've found helpful is looking at the way they've written the headlines. The thought behind it. The parts. What angle they chose to take. They are skilled at these because they've written so often and have seen what works and what doesn't.
