Hey August, really enjoyed this piece. It resonates with me at the moment. After years of freelance writing, I’ve been feeling dissatisfied.

Just writing for clients really does hamper creativity. That’s where Medium has been really helpful. To write what I like and enjoy, and have my own readers.

Even more importantly, you’ve reminded me that no matter how good any other platform is, having our own mailing list — our own platform- is vital. It’s ours. I build up other people’s lists, but I’ve been reluctant to do it for myself. Not sure what I want to focus on.
