Hey Darius, you made me laugh with that example of the guy in the gym. It can be pretty infuriating dealing with arrogant, obnoxious, selfish people.

Really good reminder about how we need to practice staying calm. It really is about awareness. You’re right, that 1 instance out of 10 can make the difference. It reminds me of this quote from Sun Tzu’s The Art of War:

“Those angry will be happy again, and those wrathful will be cheerful again, but a destroyed nation cannot exist again, the dead cannot be brought back to life.” (Chapter Twelve)

Having said that though, I’m generally a pretty calm person. But with a kid, there’s no way I will be getting through the next 20 years without blowing up now and then, no matter how much we practice staying calm. It’s something to work on of course.

But this is where awareness, communication, and apologies (sometimes in the form of chocolate) work really well ;)
