Hey Jerlin, I really enjoyed this topic. It’s such a challenge especially for creatives. I’ve experienced the procrastination that comes from focusing on what’s out there. And when we do that, it’s easy to come to the conclusion we can’t do any better. So why bother?
Yet what you say is true, and a great motivator: instead of waiting for original ideas, start creating. We’ll never be ready. We are ready. I love that!
It’s incredible what can happen when we take that pressure off ourselves. It opens our minds and it’s awesome where it can take us. It takes practice to do this. To challenge our pre-existing ideas about how we can make our mark. I feel that it’s not about focusing on that ‘big idea’ immediately. That usually doesn’t happen without the process of doing — and by doing more, consistently, big ideas can happen. Perhaps they’re the culmination of lots of smaller ideas.
