Hey Jim, that’s a really good point. I think many of us feel like we want people to know how multi-faceted we are. That’s why in our short bios, we like to say stuff like Writer, Gym fanatic, Dad, Coffee addict, Entrepreneur etc.
We feel like focusing on just one thing means this is who we are.
Yet it’s also true (though we don’t like to think about it), that people are busy and group us into 1 category. They really don’t think about us as much as we think about ourselves. It takes so much effort to write, we want people to give a s*t about what we’re putting out there.
It’s something I’ve been struggling with lately. Thank you for the 6 steps — I’ve bookmarked this post and scheduled this exercise in my diary.
