Hey Thuận, it’s great to hear from you :) It’s all so daunting being a student wondering what the next step holds doesn’t it? Though I didn’t know what my dream job was, I kept lists: What I want from my next job, What I didn’t like in my last job, and Goals for my career, finances, relationships.

What I found useful was to understand what I wanted to get out of work — and life: the culture, the types of challenges, the skills, the people etc.

So yes, in the end, like right now, I’ve been freelancing and digital nomading for 8 years. And I couldn’t go back to working for anyone else… I love it. Though it really can be tough, not as exciting and glam as it seems. It took time but I wouldn’t have realized what I know now without all those jobs and experiences.

As a new grad, I’m glad I explored and didn’t limit myself to one type of job or one industry. What helped most was to believe in myself, only get jobs I truly wanted even if it was temporary, and to keep checking in on myself. If it killed me to go into work on Mondays, I knew it was time to leave a job. Or risk losing my soul. Lol

I hope that makes some kind of sense for you. By the way what do you like about Data Journalism Thuận?
