Hey Tom, this post captures exactly the way I’ve been feeling over the past year. Which is why I’ve ramped up writing my own stuff.

I initially freelanced for the flexibility. Yes, and for the freedom from a 9-5 job. Meeting new people and writing about all sorts of stuff is pretty awesome. So yeah, it’s taken a bloody long time to realize that when it comes down to it, I’m not actually building anything of my own. Just helping other people build their businesses, which is great. But it’s not as fulfilling long-term is it?

I’m finding that writing my own stuff has actually improved my writing. It’s also taken me out of the comfort zone that we hide behind as freelancers — not using our own names publicly with our work. We don’t ever need to be vulnerable with our writing for other people. And being vulnerable is what I feel has made a difference in my writing. Have you noticed that at all Tom?

Cheers for this, it really spoke to me, especially at this time in my life :)
