You make some really good points about being mindful, compassionate, and to explore the emotions behind it.
I am finding something else that really helps is to take a good look at how the habit is affecting other aspects of life, from career and family, to health and fitness. Then comparing that with the ideal lifestyle in all these areas. It is confronting but puts the habit into perspective. So it’s easier to see the bigger impact the habit that doesn’t seem like a big problem may actually be having on my life.
