Miranda, it must have taken so much courage to write this. Thank you for sharing some insights many of us would not know about domestic abuse.

I recently helped a few friends through this, and it’s true: there’s no ‘type’ of person who abuses. It can be anyone. And there are many moments of ‘normalcy’ and fun. My friends would actually cling onto those moments and that is why they stayed so long.

It’s horrible to hear you were treated like that as the police station — it’s sad that they get so desensitized to horrific behavior that they trivialize it. They lose their humanity by doing that.

I agree that domestic abuse is too shrouded in secrecy. More people need to write about it.
